Janet Sando was born in New York in 1955. She was brought to Norway in early age, and has lived in Norway most of her life.  She now lives in Horten, Vestfold, Norway

Most of the days you can find Janet  at Galleri Verftsporten, Karljohansvern, Horten. This is where  where she has her studio and place of work. Janet was a full-time Art educator until 2012. At this point she had her first solo show and decided to use all her time on her own Art work. Since then she has been a full-time Artist.

Janet says, “Nature is one of my two great sources of inspiration. The other is our inner space or soul, our inner landscape. Two landscapes, inner and outer. At the same time, contrasting and similar. The light, its influence on colors, textures, material, and geometry are found in both landscapes in different ways. Through my work in different media, acrylic, encaustic, graphic, photo and film, it is possible for me to explore both landscapes, differentiating, comparing and uniting. One technique enriches and provides the other techniques with new elements and creates an ongoing deepening that I cannot be without.”
